First Fade

By Bill

First Fade,

I went from a short regular bussiness taper to a fade with the most amazing vist to an ethnic barber shop.

What came over me I am not qute sure, Only that I recognize that most black men have very nicely blended  short cuts.

So this  time,  I decided to drive by unfamiliar territories. I was seeking out an ethnic shop, One that I would have the nerve to walk into.

Before I knew it, I was parking in front of a real `head shop`  It was different then my experience at `old joe`s` barber shop. Music was playing and the TV was on. When I first entered the door, I was alittle intimminated being the ONLY white guy. All three chairs were -a -rocking.

The Barber in the first chair, stopped what he was doing, put his clippers down and came over and shook my hand. He certainly made me feel welcome! I was wondering to myself is this all that odd? Do white guys get their hair cut in Black barbershops?

Well,  my turn was up, and I soon found out that the only unusual part about the whole experience was that I came out with one heck of a good faded buzz.

As I sat down, I asked the barber for a nice short tapperd fade.  That is all I had to say.

The Barber started out with a blunt line about at my temple, and was sheared down tight, almost like a bowl cut.

As soon as the line was created, the next blade was errasing it, creating another obvious edge.

As he got to the top of my head, where as in the past,  I had `enough hair to comb over` he attached a red guide and proceeded to shear off the top to crew cut length. I was getting a real Basketball Buzz!

He worked on my head with various blades, untill there was not the slightest line to be seen.

I soon was lathered up low and tight for straight razor, and I even got `boxed out` slightly.

If anyone is adventuresome and wants to try a new cut, Stop by the next ethnic barber shop in your town.
