The Conversion by Strict_Discipline

This is based on a true story , only the names have been changed .

Simon came from an average family but he was anything but average . He was 15 and he wanted to enter the Seminary , to be precise he wanted to be a Jesuit priest . His family was not religious so he found it very difficult to tell them . It was at this point everything changed , his parents got divorced and his older brother up and left .

He craved for a conservative environment , his paternal grandfather came on the scene . Simon was shocked, he thought this man had died long ago . There had been a family estrangement before Simon was born . After the initial shock Simon decided he didn't want to live with either of his parents and the grandfather agreed to have him move in . Simon felt as if his paryers had been answered , two weeks later he had moved to where his grandfather lived and life underwent a transformation !

A visit to the barber was one of the first steps in this transformation . His grandfather was the complete opposite of his father and a clear set of rules played a big part in daily life .
The barber was a man in his late fifties , old school ! He welcomed Malcolm as he always did asked who the young man was and expressed surprise to hear it was his grandson . " What will it be " he asked , Malcolm spoke first , a neat slicked side-part with whitewalls ! Simon felt his stomach churn , both fear and excitement in equal measure ! Twenty minutes later Simon did not recognize himself , the barber informed him that to keep this haircut looking smart he would need to get it cut every two weeks . Malcolm had adopted a take charge mentality from the start and it quickly occured to Simon that it was what he had always wanted . Gone was the wild hair , no more sloppy appearance , he was going to look like the conservative boy he had craved for the last three years .

He started attending Mass regularly , with regard to school he was the taught by the monks at a nearby abbey . It was at this point he realized something else about himself , he was asexual !

Like a jigsaw falling into place he embraced this new life with all of its rules , his desire to become a Jesuit priest was sharpened as was his love for the disciplined haircut he was forced to have . The barber who was very good at reading people was equally as strict when Simon came to get a haircut . Simon always referred to him as sir , spoke only when spoken to and listened intently to the barber , who told him this was the " disciplined haircut " that a boy should have , even more so one who had an ambition to become a priest .

The next twelve months passed very quickly , regular haircuts , a strict regime at home , humility and good manners on display at all times . Where as other boys his age spent all their free time chasing girls , drinking underage and generally rebelling , Simon felt repelled by that . The haircut which played a central part in his appearance and marked out his status as the obedient boy was something that clearly defined him . He looked forward to his visits to the barber , he never had to be reminded that a haircut was due . Leaving the shop after every haircut he felt smart and that he done his duty . His grandfather while not lavishing praise upon him made it known that he had his respect . At church , the priest and the deacon saw he was a dedicated and devout young man and in turn maintained the strict regime that he was used to at home , at the barber's and at also while being schooled my the monks .

There was one thing that troubled him , this growing fascination with his haircut . He knew that he didn't feel an attraction to either sex but this confused him , he was strict with himself but could not subdue this . After weeks of agonising he made up his mind to speak to his main tutor at the abbey , Brother Thomas . When he told the monk what was occurung on a daily basis he listened gravely to what Simon had to say although he did not say this to simon this was not the first time he had heard these words .
