Heads or Tails? by f35h The torture boys get put through over their hair. I think we all went through it. Parents wanting it cut short but then getting teased by other boys for it actually being cut short. I distinctly remember loving the feel of the clippers skinning the back and sides of my head. This is how my parents wanted it. Unfortunately I would then be teased about it. Sadly the teasing power won out over my dad’s wishes to keep me looking like a boy. And, oh, I missed the feeling of the clippers running over the back of my head. Seems then as we get older, the teasing stops and we come back to the good familiar feeling of getting buzzed (back and sides). At this point it’s almost like the short haircuts are in preparation for the oncoming MPB. Me, like many other guys waited too long to tackle it head first (no pun intended). This cycle continues for most males.
Can’t wait to hear what haircut he gets. I’d say if he gets the trim, mum is going to make sure he gets thoroughly shorn, perhaps more than a trip to the traditional barber. by Pauldy on 11 Nov 2023

NY Experience by A Recruit Good story! Seems like there are the guys who don’t want it and then there’s guys like me who really wanted to be bald. Funny thing is once the shave happens, very few guys go back to growing hair again. I was so self conscious at first (at the time, I was usually the only baldie in the crowd). Sehr beeindruckend ist, dass der Großvater über den Haarschnitt seines Enkels bestimmt und entscheidet und das solange bis er sein eigenes Geld verdient und das der Enkel den vom Großvater vorgeschriebenen Haarschnit akzeptiert und sich für sein unhöfliches Verhalten gegenüber seines Großveters entschuldigte.

La barbería de Clemente 19 by BARBERO MILITAR Un broche de oro para la que es sin duda la historia de mejor calidad literaria. La descripción de ambientes es perfecta; los que hemos perdido el pelo en la zona superior por el paso de los años hemos conocido este tipo de mercerías, normalmente atendidas por dependientes del sexo masculino. Recuerdo las batas grises o azules que usaban para protegerse del polvo. La técnica de venta que utiliza el jefe del establecimiento se denominaba "hacer el artículo"; al final consiguió vender los slip elásticos. Posiblemente, por lo novedoso del producto, debería hacer publicidad de ellos a sus clientes habituales. Sus hijos volverían a ser rapados al igual que el protagonista, que serviría de modelo. La derrota de los melenudos es más que palpable en esta historia.

Yearly Shearing by noguard Nothing feels better than having clippers without a guard running all over your head. This is one of the reasons I love going to the barber for a head shave every so often. Being that my hair is so sparse and I never let it grow more than a few days, I do miss seeing clumps of hair falling from my head. Back when I still had some hair on top, I loved watching them low the top of my head and watching clumps of hair coming down with only skin left. Wish I had gone for the baldy look back in college (or at least got it all buzzed off).

I love the look and feel so much, I could never imagine even trying to grow any hair back now. Glad I love it as my mpb and really fine grey hair around my ears gives me no options now.

I Do Not Need It by A Recruit Wish there were guys in my dorm who had tried a shaved head. I would definitely have been easily convinced to try a shaved head too. I started college with hair over my ears but during my freshman year, I finally got the nerve to go to a barber near campus and get most of it buzzed off the back and sides. No one said a word about my big pointy ears! At this point, the hair was not going to ever grow back over my ears. I felt so liberated with the short back and sides. Often times after I got it cut, the ROTC guys would compliment my haircut. End of that school year, they were filming "The Day After " in town. They would pay $250 to shave a head. Unfortunately, I was headed home to a family wedding and knew I couldn’t come home bald. Over the summer I didn’t really cut it. So when I came back to school, I went to the barber and got most of my hair shaved off(except the front). I should have had them buzz or shave the whole thing then . Unfortunately it was many years until I went full baldy. Fast forward many years: I remember being nervous walking into my first job interview with a smooth bald head. I was nervous (not many white guys with bald heads then). It was no big deal. That was my final deciding factor in staying bald, although father nature had already decided for me.

Lo que más me ha llamado la atención es que en este centro educativo se escogía a los más sumisos, en vez de intentar enderezar a los que se han apartado del buen camino. Es evidente que el protagonista de la historia disfrutó de aquel ambiente de extrema disciplina y, especialmente, del brutal pelado que le metieron. Se trata de una sociedad secreta, lo que se conoce como fraternidad masculina, en la que se realizan rituales de sometimiento. Hoy en día estas cosas estarían totalmente prohibidas porque participan en ellas menores de edad. Sin embargo, en el pasado no se cuestionaban los métodos disciplinarios de los internados por parte de las autoridades. My parents were very neutral about my hair, although they never let it get too long: just long enough to cover most of my ears.
My grandfather would have loved me to get that haircut. He was always on me to get it cut short. While staying with him I was told I would have to get a haircut from his barber, which I accepted. Funny thing is he just asked me if I needed a haircut (he was a VERY stern man), to which I replied "no"! I never got the haircut that year even though he had given my cousins very short crewcuts.

Stepmama's intervention !! by Snipped Sam Excellent story! I’m a bit surprised that the first barber didn’t oblige and just skin the back and sides.
As a young boy, dad would take me to the barber and he would all but shave the back and sides. I loved the feel of hair getting shaved off. Looking back, I wish he had also buzzed the top. I would have loved the feel and also wouldn’t have been constantly nagged by my mom to comb it. Fortunately I never had any goop put into my hair though. I think if I had ever gotten a buzz cut, I probably would never have wanted it cut any other way, until I got teased about my big pointed ears. Fortunately my parents were understanding and let me grow it out so I wouldn’t be teased. I wasn’t much into showers as a kid and my mom told me shower or she’d buzz all my hair off. I really wanted her to do that but chickened out once she had the cape on me, ready to buzz everything off.

At about the same age, instead of going to my usual barbershop. My Dad took me to his, barber. As we got near my Dad went through it all again...
When the barber asks you! How you want it cutting....
Instead of just a trim, wich is your usual reply....
What are we going to ask for?
"A short back and sides" i mumbled.
A short back and sides please sir, remember your manners James, thats how you would answer a teacher at school isn't it.
Yeah but please Dad do i have it cut short i pleaded.
Your'e going to get a propper haircut and thats the end of it, and if you show me up or embarrass me in any way in front of Mr Henderson, i'll have him shave your whole head bald with the razor, now do you understand... Yes Dad,sorry.
We entered the barbershop, luckily it was empty.... Straight in the chair James there's a good lad. Mr Henderson caped me and pumped up the chair.
Whats he having?
I'll let James decide..
"Go on James, tell Mr Henderson what you want.
With my head bowed, i reluctantly mumbled.... Short back and sides.
"Short back and sides eh",.. Not many boys ask for that these days, my Dad interupted him, he seemed really angry,
"that may be so Bob, but i'll bet when they do, they ask politley and show you some respect, now i was going to ask you to be a little lenient with the clippers but not now, clip the back and sides all the way up and we'll have him soaped and razor shaved a good inch and a half above the top of his ears and level all the way round, then maybe it'll help him to remember to ask politley and respectfully when he's back here for the same in 2 week time.
That went on for the next 3 years until i left school

You said I could have a trim !! by Snipped Sam Great story! 1974, I was still going with dad for haircuts. I used to get my haircut just about like this with the back and sides all but shaved to the skin. I loved running my hands up the back of my head to feel the sandpaper feel (my sisters would rub the back of my head too until they were told to stop by my parents). I remember enjoying the cut so much, asking for it again! I was never subjected to brylcreme and at the time wished they had (my hair was constantly a mess). Now the idea of that goop in my hair grosses me out.
