My first perm by Washfetish

I was looking at a magazine in the hairdressers while having my hair cut, I saw a style I liked and asked my hairdresser if that would look alright on me, yes she said but you will have to have it permed, ok I said and made my appointment.
A few weeks later was the day of the perm and I was nervous but looking forward to it.
I went into the salon and my hairdresser asked me to follow her towards the wash basins. There she took a gown from the hook and held it up for me to put my arms through, I did this and she tied it up at the back.
She then asked me to sit down by the sink and and she placed a towel round my shoulders then I lent back into the basin,she wet my hair and pumped shampoo in to her hand and massaged it into my head, then she rinsed it off and washed it again.
Once that was over she wrapped the towel round my head and I walked over to the styling chair.once there she rubbed my hair and pulled her trolley near her side. On this trolley was the perming rods .she poured perming lotion over my head and took a strip of my hair and wrapped it in tissue then rolled it up. This continued until all my hair was rolled up. She then placed cotton wool around the edge of my hair and covered every roller with perm lotion. Then she placed a cover over my head and I sat and waited. After a while she came back and took a roller out and checked that it was curly enough then she took me to the basin and I lent back and she run water all over my head. I was so comfortable and enjoying this then she put neutraliser over my rollers and I stayed leaning back for a while, then she rinsed me again and removed the rollers, she added more neutraliser all over and massaged it into my hair then rinsed it all off. Finally at the basin I got another shampoo and conditioner.
Back to the mirrors and she took the towel off my head and there I was sitting looking at my permed hair, after a quick cut and trim she blow dried it and styled it the same as the picture I had seen it in.
It looked Incredible and it was an experience i had a second time a few months later.
Perming is something I would reccomend if anybody wants a change and enjoys the hair washing part ,

Love your story, Washfetish. I remember my first perm like it was yesterday. I was 19, studying at TAFE, but would always skip class and read hairdressing mags in the library. Then, one day, I thought why read, why not just do it, I caught the train home but got off several stops early. Then, walking around trying to choose from 3 salons. Picked the one I wanted, walked in and Paul ( hairdresser ) was at the front. Asked him if they did mens hair, or mens perms? Yes. Then what was the cost? Around $80 ( this was back in mid 80's ). Finally, when could he fit me in? Before I knew anything, he had me by the arm, ushered me to the basins, gowned me in a black gown, and gave me beautiful shampoo. Then, over to the bench where another guy was being bleached, and girl getting permed. Sat me between them, rolled my head in perm rods. I had every emotion running through me. Then, saturated me in perm solution , bagged me and I sat for about 50 minutes. Then, back over the basin to rinse off, and apply neutralizer. Sat back at the bench for another 30 minutes, then final rinse. Then, at the basin the perm rods came out, one final shampoo before going back to the bench to get it all combed and looking nice.
