Chapter 3 - Twins Again (Finale ver. 2) by myboyfriendisbald

ENDING VERSION 2 - if you were team "buzz off the long hair" then SKIP this one, version 1 is already posted :)

"So, Tess, what’s it gonna be?"
"Jared, can I talk to you for a second?" I needed a minute to process what was happening, and I needed to get Jared to step away or he would likely make a decision for me.
"Uh, yeah."
I got up and we walked into the kitchen, I spoke in a hushed tone, "Look, Colby’s been upset about this since you guys got here. I’d finally got him to stop fretting over it. And now you just poked the bear."
"I know, I’m sorry Tess. It’s my fault, normally I’m good at keeping Colby in the loop. He’s always done what I do, and he hates change unless we do it together."
"Well it can’t be my decision. If I side with you he’ll be pissed at me since I already told him I thought it was fine if you guys didn’t twin."
"Honestly, I thought maybe I would like not looking identical. Most twins don’t really do that, you know? But we just always have, and usually totally by accident. And seeing him… It just feels wrong. I miss that bond, I was wrong to think I wouldn’t."
"He’ll probably come around, but for now you need to be the one to tell him it’s ok, and let him decide on his own what he’s going to do next."
Jared nodded solemnly, "He’s gonna be so pissed."
"He’ll get over it, I promise. I’ll talk to him. Plus he never stays mad at you."
"Yeah, you’re right. Plus, if the sex Cas and I had after I buzzed my head is any indica-"
"Let’s just stop right there," I laughed, blushing, "Come on, let’s go get this over with."

We went back into the dining room, Colby had his head buried in his hands, Casey was absentmindedly stirring her drink.
Jared resumed his position behind Colby, and I took my seat.
"What did you guys talk about," Colby asked, snapping his head up to look at me, "Tess?"
"Ah ah ah," Jared tutted, "That’s confidential. Anyway, If you really don’t want to twin again now, then that’s fine, ok?"
Colby looked perplexed, but relieved, "I just need to think about this, ok?"
Jared patted his shoulder and sat back down at the table.
Later that night I ended up helping Colby fix his hair so he wouldn't look quite so ragged. I could tell it was bugging him more than he was letting on, and I didn’t want him to have to wait until his stylist could squeeze him in. After a few YouTube tutorials I was able to give him a nice medium length crop that still covered his ears and most of his neck, but was shorter in the back. Unfortunately the way Jared had hacked at his hair, the strands at his nape were very short by comparison to the rest of it, so I’d actually taken a pair of clippers that Colby normally used for his beard and I’d given him a bit of an undercut so that it didn’t look like a ducktail.
"It does feel good, actually," Colby said admiring himself in the mirror, "I guess it was time for a bit of change after all."
"Just not as drastic of a change," I mused, running my fingers through his hair, enjoying the soft and tangle free feel of it.
"I love you," Colby said, kissing my forehead.
"And I love you," I replied.
"Thank you for being on my team."
"Of course baby," I said, curling against his body, "I’m always on your team."

It was kind of fun having Jared and Colby look so different once I was used to it. Colby let his hair grow out again and started wearing it half up, showing off his undercut (which he decided to keep), and Jared kept his hair on the much shorter side, not touching his ears at all. This went on for almost two years, and then one Christmas they unknowingly planned to surprise each other again. Jared had been letting his hair grow out, and it was now cut in a trendy style that was perfectly tousled and down to his collar. In preparation for our wedding, and to surprise Jared, Colby had cut his own hair a little shorter, so his hair just dusted his collar too. They fell into a fit of giggles when they saw one another on Christmas and the only difference between them was Jared’s pierced ear! It was lovely to see the two of them twinning again, and on their own terms.

"Merry Christmas babe," Colby said, kissing me passionately once everyone else had gone to bed.
"Merry Christmas to you too," I said, admiring my favorite gift of the evening: a happy fiancé with an absolutely gorgeous head of hair. That night we got lost in the throes of passion, and all I could think about was how hot he and Jared would look for our wedding photos! Both of the guys in my life, back to their identical twin ways, I couldn’t be happier!
