The Nair Shave by InfinityShaver

The Nair shave

In the bustling city of Makkah, 13-year-old Aman was eagerly anticipating a significant pilgrimage. Known for his signature look—neatly styled 3-inch hair, a black surgical mask, and glasses—Aman had always been proud of his appearance. While he maintained his usual hairstyle to fit in at school, he secretly harbored a desire to try being bald.

As his family prepared for their Umrah pilgrimage, Aman felt a mix of excitement and apprehension. The trip was a major spiritual journey, and he hoped it might provide the chance to explore his secret wish for a bald look. His father, Mr. Nair, had a surprise planned that would offer Aman just that opportunity.

After days of performing Umrah’s rites and immersing himself in the spiritual experience, Mr. Nair decided it was time for the surprise. One evening, after a day spent at the Haram, Mr. Nair turned to Aman with a smile.

"Aman," Mr. Nair said cheerfully, "I have one more thing planned for you before we head back home."

Aman, trying to hide his excitement, played along with a touch of reluctance. "What’s that, Dad?"

"We’re going to visit a barbershop," Mr. Nair replied. "It’s time for a special haircut."

Aman raised an eyebrow, pretending to be unsure. "A haircut? I thought we were just going home."

"It’s more than just a trim," Mr. Nair said with a knowing grin.

The next day, the family arrived at a traditional barbershop in Makkah. The shop was busy with the sounds of buzzing clippers and lively chatter. Aman followed his father inside, his heart racing with a mix of anticipation and feigned reluctance.

The barber greeted them warmly. "Welcome! Ready for your haircut?"

Aman looked at his father, trying to look nervous. "Dad, what kind of haircut are we talking about?"

Mr. Nair smiled broadly. "It’s a surprise. We’re going for a full shave."

Aman’s eyes widened, but inside, he felt a thrill of joy. "A full shave? You didn’t mention this!"

"It’s part of the experience," Mr. Nair explained. "I thought it would be a good opportunity for you."

As Aman settled into the barber’s chair, the barber wrapped a cape around him and prepared his tools. Aman watched as the barber sharpened a straight razor. His excitement grew as the moment approached.

"This is really happening," Aman said, trying to sound apprehensive. "I didn’t expect the shave to be with a straight razor."

The barber smiled reassuringly. "It’s traditional and gives a close shave. You’ll be smooth in no time."

With careful precision, the barber began to work, using the straight razor to remove Aman’s hair. The sensation of the razor against his scalp was new and exhilarating. Aman touched his smooth head as the hair fell away, trying to keep his excitement in check.

Once the barber finished, Aman’s head was completely bald. He admired his reflection, feeling a mix of satisfaction and feigned discomfort. But the real surprise was yet to come.

As they left the barbershop, Mr. Nair revealed a bottle of Nair hair removal cream he had brought along. "Aman, there’s one more thing to make sure you’re completely smooth."

Aman looked at the bottle with a mix of curiosity and nervousness. "Nair? I didn’t know we were using that too."

"It’s to ensure your scalp stays smooth," Mr. Nair said. "Let’s apply it now."

They found a quiet spot, and Mr. Nair carefully applied the Nair cream to Aman’s scalp. Aman was surprised by the cool sensation and tried to stay still as the cream did its work.

After a few minutes, Mr. Nair helped Aman rinse off the cream, leaving his head feeling even smoother. "There you go, all set."

Aman touched his scalp, marveling at how smooth and clean it felt. He was thrilled but tried to keep a straight face. "Wow, this feels amazing."

When they returned home, Aman was eager to see how his friends would react to his new look. He was both excited and nervous about going back to school. The next day, he walked into school with his bald head, trying to stay confident despite his apprehension.

As he entered the school courtyard, his friends immediately noticed his new appearance. Ravi, one of his classmates, approached him with wide eyes.

"Aman! Is that really you?" Ravi exclaimed. "What happened to your hair?"

"It’s me," Aman replied, trying to sound casual. "My dad surprised me with a head shave during our trip. And we used Nair to make sure it was perfectly smooth."

Several classmates gathered around, their curiosity piqued. They began to tease Aman playfully.

"Wow, Aman, you look like a lightbulb!" Priya laughed. "Did you lose a bet or something?"

"Shiny and smooth, just like a new car!" Arjun teased. "Did they use a laser to get you that smooth?"

Aman forced a smile, trying to play along. "Yeah, it’s quite a change. I didn’t expect this either."

Despite his attempts to remain unfazed, Aman felt a sting from the teasing. It was hard to ignore the jokes and comments. His friends’ remarks magnified his insecurities, even though he had secretly desired this change.

Throughout the day, Aman faced more comments and playful jabs. In the classroom, whispers and snickers followed him as he walked by. He tried to stay positive, but the constant attention was challenging.

During lunch, Ravi joined him at the table. "Hey, Aman, don’t let the teasing get to you. You’re rocking the bald look. It’s just a change, and people will get used to it."

Aman managed a small smile. "Thanks, Ravi. It’s just weird getting used to it with everyone noticing."

"Give it some time," Ravi said encouragingly. "It’s all part of the process. And hey, you’ve got a cool story to tell about your trip."

As the weeks went by, Aman grew more comfortable with his bald look. The teasing from his friends eventually faded, and he began to embrace the change. His confidence increased as he adjusted to his new appearance.

One day, as Aman walked into the school courtyard, he noticed that his friends had stopped making jokes about his bald head. They had accepted it as part of his unique style.

Reflecting on his journey, Aman realized that the trip to Makkah and the surprise shave had taught him an important lesson. He had faced his fears, embraced a change he had secretly wanted, and learned to handle the challenges that came with it.

When Aman talked to his father about the experience, he said, "Dad, the pilgrimage was incredible. Even though I got teased at school, the shave turned out to be a great experience. Thanks for making it part of the journey."

Mr. Nair smiled with pride. "I’m glad you see it that way, Aman. Sometimes, facing new experiences can be challenging, but they help us grow."

Aman nodded, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "Definitely. It was an adventure, and now I’m ready for whatever comes next."

The pilgrimage and the surprise shave had been more than just a physical change; they had been a journey of self-discovery and growth. Aman learned to embrace the unexpected, handle teasing with resilience, and appreciate the unique experiences that shaped his journey.
