Craving for a buzz cut #3 by John
This a follow up to the stories (short ones) I submitted in 2012. For context, I have never had a shorter hair than a #2 all around buzz cut. The year is 2020 and Covid is raging. I haven't had a haircut in 4 months! My hair is longer and shaggy almost down to the eyes. I have been craving a buzz cut for the longest time but had no opportunity to get it cut. The barbershops where I lived were also closed, making getting a cut hard. After 2015 I had not gotten a buzz cut, remaining with the short sides and back. At that time I also had switched barbers in a different town. However, my dad let me know my former barber (the one who had given me a buzz cut all those years ago) was open and still cutting hair at his store clandestinely.
I was due and desperate for a haircut and called him up to get a cut. He agreed to cut my hair (it had been five years since he had cut my hair). I arrived to the barbershop with the lights dim and the windows closed by blinds. I walked right in and as the only client, the barber motioned to the empty seat in the shop. I sat down and the barber said "its been a while, how have I been?" After some brief small talk, the barber put the cape around me and got it closed at the nape of my neck. The barber then asked what we were doing today? I said a #2 all over. Without hesitation the barber went down the middle with the #2. From what I remember, he always started with the sides then buzzed the top when giving me a buzz cut. I couldn't believe it, my first buzz cut in five years was in progress and I could see the scalp on top. I honestly felt so relieved, but I was really wanting to go shorter. I was nervous and unsure of going shorter. As the barber started the back portion of my head, I asked him to do a #1 all over. The barber took the guard of and switched it to a #1 and started buzzing my head (from the top again!). He didn't ask if I was sure or not, he just went for it. I instantly became hard as the cut was continuing. The barber after mercilessly buzzing my head super short, was like didn't you used to get a #2? I shook my head, stunned with the result of a #1 all over buzz cut. I loved how brutally short it looked on me. After the buzzing had finished, the barber asked if I wanted a "box", which was referring to the box line shapeup of the front hairline. I said yes, why not at this point. The barber started to line me up and after he was done, you could tell he pushed my hairline back a little further than I was comfortable with. However, I loved the overall cut. For the first time I was at a #1 buzz cut, and truthfully loved it more than my #2 buzzcuts I had in the past. After the barber pulled of the cape of me, you could see all those thick chunks of hair that were shaved of lifelessly on the ground.
