CORRECTION OF A HAIRSTYLE ERROR by Gottlieb

CORRECTION OF A HAIRSTYLE ERROR
As a little boy and teenager, I usually wore my hair very short, with a few exceptions, at the request of my father. In later years, however, I unfortunately sometimes forgot to follow the correct principles of a young man regarding regular very short haircuts. Then, as an adult, thanks to my friend Karl, who supervised my adherence to the regular four-week haircut periods and made sure to keep my haircuts short or very short, I fortunately no longer had any problems in this regard.
In the first half of the nineties, men's fashion, especially thanks to popular boy bands, brought about the era of "bowlcut" hairstyles. The hairstyle consisted of cutting the longer top hair "like a pot" or "like a bowl". The remaining hair underneath them on the sides and back of the neck, called the "undercut", was usually shortened to six millimeters in the higher parts and three millimeters in the lower parts. It was a combination of longer hair on top and very short hair on the bottom. As the hair gradually grew back, it was necessary to renew the cut, especially with the short hair on the bottom, the overgrown "bowlcut" no longer looked very nice.
Before one of my regular autumn haircuts, I asked Karel if he would let me try such a "bowlcut". Karel immediately told me that he did not think it would be the right hairstyle for me, but that he would allow it. At the same time, he also clearly told me that I would have to be patient and let the hair grow out on top, because the "bowlcut" cannot be created from short hair. In the end, Karel and I agreed that I could try it and if for some reason it did not work, he would let me cut it very short, as I was used to. The idea that I wouldn't have short hair on top, as I was used to, didn't sit well with me. On the other hand, I knew that at least the lower part near the ears and the back of the neck would be cut short. The next regular haircuts were less frequent than usual, and the top hair gradually grew longer. To make it less bothersome, I combed it back and fixed it lightly with hairspray. It wasn't ideal, but it was bearable with more patience. And so I suffered,
By April, the hair on the top of my head had grown to a length that allowed for a "bowlcut". I was a little sad that I wouldn't have the usual, very short haircut of one centimeter without bangs, which was absolutely ideal for spring. Karel and I went to the hairdresser near the bus stop, where Karel told a familiar hairdresser that she should create a "bowl-like" cut on my head and the bottom hair should be six millimeters long. Right around the ears and at the nape of the neck, Karel demanded a length of three millimeters, or even less, to make it look good. I was curious how the hairdresser would perform the new type of hairstyle. But it wasn't as complicated as it seemed at first glance. First, she used hair clips to separate the hair on the top of my head, which was supposed to remain, from the hair on the bottom. Then came the turn of the electric hair clipper, with which she simply cut the rest of the hair with quick strokes - exactly according to Karl's instructions - to six and three millimeters. This part of the haircut was very similar to the very short haircuts I had received before. Finally, the hairdresser unclipped the hair clips from the top hair, which loosened the hair and then it was cut with scissors into a "bowl-like" shape. The result corresponded to what I had seen on members of some boy bands - long on top, cut "in a bowl-like" shape, and very short underneath. I thought it was the opposite of the "mullet" I had tried before - it was short in the front and long in the back... My opinion was that I had a hair helmet on my head. But Karel told me that I got exactly what we agreed on, so I should appreciate it.
On the way home from the hairdresser, I kept touching my very short lower hair with a clipper, which was covered by the longer upper hair. The contrast wasn't bad at all, I quite liked that. At home, when I looked in the mirror, I wasn't entirely sure if this hairstyle was the right one for me. After all, I was a little older than the members of the boy bands. In the "bowlcut", I felt stupid, more like a little boy than an adult. My doubts gradually grew stronger - I knew that I had on my head what Karel allowed me to do. I knew that I had to wait patiently for the hair on top of my head to grow out. I knew that waiting patiently wasn't exactly easy. On the other hand, I didn't feel at all comfortable with the "bowlcut"!!! More and more often, I found myself thinking about going back to my previous, classic, very short hair. They were comfortable, they suited me and above all I felt completely comfortable in them. It was also important that the very short hair was adequate to the fact that I was already an adult.
With each passing day my dissatisfaction grew and grew, I was no longer in a good mood. One morning, looking in the mirror, I said to myself that the "bowlcut" may be fashionable, but that I no longer wanted it! This spontaneous decision quickly improved my mood and I began to look forward to getting rid of this hair helmet at the barber's in the afternoon after work. In fact: I couldn't wait to get it fixed! I don't want, don't want, don't want the ugly "bowlcut" anymore!
I finished work and went into town, looking forward to a barber's intervention. I was determined to enter the first barbershop I came across. The barbershop by the church caught my eye, where I only had to wait a short while for the barber to finish the elderly gentleman. Then it was my turn. The barber looked at me with experienced eyes and told me that he was not at all surprised that I did not want to wear such a stupid hairstyle anymore. He told me that the choice of the "bowlcut" was not at all happy, that it was obviously a hairstyle mistake. I replied to the barber that he was absolutely right and that I gave him a free hand in eliminating this mistake. After these words of mine, the barber immediately began eliminating my stupid and disgusting "bowlcut helmet". Because of my short hair, he put a six-millimeter attachment on the electric clipper and started. The metal blades bit into my sides, through which they smoothly passed to the upper parts, where my longer hair had previously reigned. Then came the turn of the remaining longer hair above the forehead, which fell down to the buzzing accompaniment of the clipper. The upper part of the head was thus reduced to a length of six millimeters, to which the bangs did not match at all. In a few minutes, I was starting to look like myself again. This was followed by replacing the attachment with a smaller and more careful cut around the ears and on the nape of the neck. At the very end, he thoroughly cleaned my lower parts with a clipper without an attachment and a razor. I waited, my suffering was over! I looked like I did before, only with significantly shorter hair. But my satisfaction was indescribable! The hairstyle mistake was gone! Never again a stupid "bowlcut"!!!
When Karel saw me, he praised me. He was as happy as I was that I had managed to eliminate the stupid hairstyle mistake on my own. We were also both happy that I had the expected, very short haircut with the onset of spring, and that I was following the correct principles of a young man in caring for his hair.
Have you also experienced a similar hairstyle mistake? How did you fix it? I look forward to your experiences!
Write to me here, I look forward to it and thank you.
