He walked in to the shop, his brown fluffy hair grown a lot with a beautiful flow to it. A bit too long though, it was becoming too much to manage. It was just about summer, Chris wanted to go short. He’d been thinking of a buzzcut but wasn’t sure how serious about it he was. He had a couple of ideas in mind. "Chris?" The man said at the reception desk. He got up and made his way to the barbers chair. "So what are we doing today?" Carlo, his barber, asked. Chris pulled up some photos of a back and sides cut that was short enough, he thought. The sides and back were taken down quite a bit to maybe a #2 guard, and the top was left with enough length to style. Seemed reasonable. Chris then swiped to a photo of a buzz cut. A four on top, faded down the sides. He wasn’t sure tho. "You have a good hairline" Carlo said as he lifted Chris’ bangs. "It will take atleast 3-4 months to grow back though" he added. Chris wasn’t sure. He had never had buzzed his hair before. What would people say? "I don’t know if i’m ready, not this time atleast." Chris replied. They decided on meeting in the middle, though Chris was still even nervous about that.


Carlo took his sissors out and started straight out with Chris’ bangs. He lifted them up and boom, half the length was gone. Like clockwork. But he wasn’t done, going back in and cutting another 25%. The front flowy bangs of Chris’ hair were reduced to no more than a few inches. As the barber moved on the sides and back, it felt good but nerve racking to see all the hair the length that Chris’ had grown, all gone in a matter of minutes. Carlo moved on to the sides and back. Chris’ had been growing his hair for a few months so there was a bit of a flow to it, nothing too long though. Starting out with a 4, Carlo wiped away most everything, fading it down to a 2. Chris watched as the clippers went up the sides and back of his head as his brunette locks fell onto his lap. Around this point the sides and back were full on crew cut, but the top still had a bit of room to play with. Carlo did his finishing touches before putting his tools down. Once he was done he looked in the mirror but he still felt something was off. "I don’t know, Chris, this feels like such an awkward length." "You think so?" Chris replied. "Yeah, but I think there’s something I can do to fix it." Carlo began.

Without thinking anything of it, Chris told Carlo to just do whatever, anticipating a slight adjustment in the style or parting, even fading the sides down a little shorter. But without a moments notice, Chris watched as Carlo roared up his clippers again looking as he placed them at the back of Chris’ head. But instead of moving them down the back of his head, Carlo passed the clippers right through to the front of Chris’ head, taking off everything in its path. "A buzzcut" Chris thought to himself. He was about to have. full on… buzzcut. Carlo continued to take off the rest of the hair on top of Chris’ head, practically scalping him. Pass after pass after pass, more and more hair began to fall all over. Naturally, Carlo faded the sides into the top and voila… with a #2 on top faded all the way down to skin… Chris looked about ready to join the army. "Well… what do you think?" Carlo asked. Chris speechless, got up, paid, left. He walked in with a full head of handsome fluffy brown hair and walked out looking like a G.I. Joe… the end.
