This is a true story I like to have short haircuts whilst on holiday I am retired but still have a reasonable head of Grey hair the day before we were due to go on holiday to Turkey and Greece I went to my usual Barbers my hair was about two inches on toen p and tapered down to a number One at the sides and back I was ready to try something different so asked for a flat top Tom my barber was surprised and said are you sure I was a bit unsure if it would suit me but as I would be on Holiday I wanted to give it a try. Tom fired up his clippers and soon the back and sides were stripped right down to stubble then He started to work on the top I was really enjoying watching it take shape too soon it was finished what a transformation. It looked awsome Tom was really pleased and thought it really suited me and said he loved doing flat tops but they are not so fasionable these days. When I got home my Wife really loved the new look I felt a bit self conscious but also felt very groomed .
Next dat we set off on our travels from the UK in our camper van to travel to turkey Two weeks later we had arrived in Turkey and my flat top was starting to loose its shape I had heard that Turkish barber experience was not to be missed we were in a small town and I spotted a traditional looking Barbers so went in to get a haircut I was seated and the cape secured very tightly around my neck the barber didnt speak any english and I no Turkish but with hand gestures i thought he understood what I wanted it all began fine the sides and back taken down to stubble but I dont think he had ever cut a flat top before and I ended up with a sort of curved sides and flatish in the middle I sat in the chair and it looked like a giant mushroom sitting on my head there was no way I was walking out of there looking like this so I pointed to the clippers and the number one guide and pointed to my head .He got the message and soon I had a buzz cut which was ok but a big disapointment I dont think he was to happy that I didnt like the haircut he gave me but I quickly paid and made my exit .

A couple of weeks later we were in a place called Kas and I have never seen so many Barber shops in one town on looking around counted 18 most of which were around the main square they all looked very simmilar and my hair had grown about a quqrter of an inch and I was developing a good tan I just picked one of the barbers at random and walked in the chair was empty and the barber gestured for me to take a seat all I said was that I wanted a haircut and a shave . He took control picked up the clippers and put them to my forehead and moved them slowly back leaving a slight trace of stubble behind soon I was as good as bald then he picked up a pair of small scissers and trimmed my nasal hair then it was the turn of my eyebrows to receive his attention then a taper was lit and passed over my ears (I didnt think I had any hair on my ear but it all seems part of the package .Next he lathered my face for the straight razor shave I was really enjoying this whole experience after a second shave then my face was lathered up again and he upt his fingers on my eyes to close them and gave me the most amazing facial massage the my hair was washed and rinsed Iwas sat back up and patted dry with a towell the Barber then put a very small amount of oil on his hands and gave me another facial massage then my head was next wow what an experience next came an arm and hand massage this whole process took 1 Hour and cost 40 turkish Lire about 12 pounds in english money I came out of there feeling 10 years younger these turkish men certainly know how to look after themselves virtually bald is a good look on me and my wife loves a bit of stubble to rub but thats another story
